How long have you worked at UC Davis?
A total of 9 years. My first UCD job was in 1989, and after pursuing a private business and raising 2 daughters, I came back 4 years ago.
Why did you become a wellness ambassador?
I wanted to share my wellness passion with others in my department. It is rewarding to see others participate and it helps me stay on track.
How long have you been a wellness ambassador?
Since the pilot program began 4 years ago. I was so excited to see this program launched. The concept of having wellness ambassadors in departments to motivate and distribute healthy information is brilliant!
What has been the most rewarding or positive about your experience thus far?
Being part of the University’s mission to spread wellness throughout campus! Last year we applied for a wellness grant and were able to hold a succulent planting party. This was a great success with positive healthy results.
What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador?
The biggest challenge is participation. Convincing the team to step away from the work/computer to engage in the Wellness offerings to recharge their minds and bodies throughout the day is important.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?
Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being are the best! Start small and feel the reward of helping others.
Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?
Spreading wellness seeds in the UC Davis community! Knowing that it is a win if it helps one person make healthier choices!
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family and 2 grandkids, working out with my daughter, hiking, walking my dogs, and cooking fresh-colorful food!
