Hearing Conservation

This 20 minute course is intended for employees who are exposed to noise at or above an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 dBA. It provides an overview of hearing conservation and explains key concepts related to noise exposure, hearing protection, and testing requirements. Course objectives include:

  • Identifying the effects of noise on hearing.
  • Explaining the purpose of hearing protectors.
  • Recognizing the advantages, disadvantages, and attenuation of different types of hearing protectors.
  • Identifying how to properly select, fit, use, and care for hearing protectors.
  • Explaining the purpose of audiometric testing and the basic test procedures.
