Electrical Safety for Researchers

This course is intended for researchers working with purchased electrical equipment not meant for modification and is designed to promote safe use and compliance with applicable safety requirements. Course objectives include:

• Identifying factors that may affect you when working in a cold environment.
• Identifying common types of purchased electrical equipment, including PCR machines, hot plates, ovens, and heat guns.
• Understanding safe operating procedures for electrical equipment.
• Recognizing potential electrical hazards and risk factors.
• Implementing safe work practices to reduce the risk of injury or equipment damage.
• Reviewing general safety guidance and available resources.
