This 1 hour instructor led course discusses the policies and procedures associated with the use of radioactive material at UC Davis, in order to provide a general awareness of radiation safety fundamentals and policies and procedures associated with the use of radioactive material in order to comply with the University's radioactive material license. Course objectives include:

Reviewing the posting requirements in laboratories.
Reviewing the requirements for shipping and receiving radioactive material.
Reviewing administrative procedures such as radioactive waste disposal, laboratory monitoring and inventories.
Reviewing the operation and use of a radiation survey meter and how to perform a contamination survey.

**PLEASE NOTE: Completion of the eLearning course “Radiation Safety for Users of Radioactive Materials” is a prerequisite before registering for this course. The Learning Management System (LMS), where trainings are housed, is set up for employees. If you are a student or visiting scholar, you must request access to the system before you can complete your training. Please email [email protected] to request access to the system.

Required be taken once before radioactive material. Refresher course required every three years (satisfied by either by attending the class again or taking an on-line examination).
