This 1 hour instructor led course discusses the policies and procedures associated with the use of radioactive material at UC Davis, in order to provide a general awareness of radiation safety fundamentals and policies and procedures associated with the use of radioactive material in order to comply with the University's radioactive material license. Course objectives include:

  • Reviewing the posting requirements in laboratories.
  • Reviewing the requirements for shipping and receiving radioactive material.
  • Reviewing administrative procedures such as radioactive waste disposal, laboratory monitoring and inventories.
  • Reviewing the operation and use of a radiation survey meter and how to perform a contamination survey.

**PLEASE NOTE: Completion of the eLearning course “Radiation Safety for Users of Radioactive Materials” is a prerequisite before registering for this course. The Learning Management System (LMS), where trainings are housed, is set up for employees. If you are a student or visiting scholar, you must request access to the system before you can complete your training. Please email [email protected] to request access to the system.

Required be taken once before radioactive material. Refresher course required every three years (satisfied by either by attending the class again or taking an on-line examination).
