What does Wellness mean to you?
To me, wellness means achieving balance across various aspects of life such as physical, social, and mental well-being.
Why did you become a wellness ambassador?
I became a wellness ambassador to motivate my team (and myself!) to be more active.
How long have you been a wellness ambassador?
I have been a wellness ambassador for about a year and a half.
What has been the most rewarding or positive part about your experience thus far?
The most rewarding aspect of this program so far has been applying (and receiving!) our department's first Healthy Department Certification, as well as the Wellness Mini-Grant. We used the mini grant in April to do an escape room activity. We escaped with 1:48 to spare.
What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador?
Having limited time and resources as I continue working in my current position as a policy analyst is a challenge that I face as a wellness ambassador.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?
I would advise fellow wellness ambassadors to keep on passing the wellness emails along to others on their team!
Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?
I feel I have been able to contribute to this mission by sharing and coordinating the Academic Senate's walking challenges for the last year and a half.
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy taking photography, taking my dogs out for a walk around my neighborhood, and a good cup of coffee.
