How long have you worked at UC Davis?

I have worked at UC Davis for 2 1/2 years.

What does Wellness mean to you?

Wellness is balance. A balanced life approach to physical health, relaxation, stress reduction, quality of life and happiness.

Why did you become a wellness ambassador?

I became a wellness ambassador to help my peers within my department to become more conscious of their overall health and wellbeing.

How long have you been a wellness ambassador?

I have been a wellness ambassador for 2 1/2 years.

What has been the most rewarding or positive about your experience thus far?

Seeing a recent increase participation in our departmental wellness activities has been the most rewarding experience as a wellness ambassador thus far.

What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador, especially through the pandemic this past year?

A challenge that I have faced is getting consistent participation in our wellness activities.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?

One piece of advice that I would share with new wellness ambassadors is to not get discouraged by the quantity (participation numbers), but instead focus on the quality of the wellness activity and it's effectiveness.

Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?

I feel I contribute to the mission by actively promoting making healthy choices. I encourage my peers to go walks, take the stairs, i provide them a helpful ear when they need someone to talk to, and I promote a balance between work and life.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I love spending time with my wife and daughter. Family comes first for me. If I do have any other time, I enjoy golfing.
