During the year-long program, a small group of participants and their lifestyle coach meet in a virtual classroom setting once a week for the first three months, bi-weekly for month four (every other week), and once a month for the remainder of the program. The group sessions create a space for participants to discuss barriers and to find solutions together. DPP uses a Center's for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved curriculum which includes basic information on nutrition, ways to increase physical activity, stress management techniques, and ideas to stay motivated. DPP also focuses on self-monitoring of diet and physical activity and helps participants build self-efficacy for maintaining lifestyle changes.
