This 10 minute course is intended for all chemical fume hood users, in order to fulfill the Cal/OSHA training requirement on the proper use of a fume hood. This course designed to comply with regulatory requirements. This video training is not a substitute for specific training in the lab on the unique hazards present in the lab and how a lab worker should protect themselves. This course required to be taken once. Employees who have completed the UC Laboratory Safety Fundamentals course do not need to complete this training. Course objectives include:

  • Identifying the different types of fume hoods on campus.
  • Understanding how to adjust the sash.
  • Understanding how to read the air flow monitor.
  • Identifying steps to take if the fume hood alarm is sounding.

**PLEASE NOTE: The Learning Management System (LMS), where trainings are housed, is set up for employees. If you are a student or visiting scholar, you must request access to the system before you can complete your training. Please email hr-learning@ucdavis.edu to request access to the system.

Required - Employees who have completed the UC Laboratory Safety Fundamentals course do not need to complete this training.
