September Wellness Ambassador of the Month | Jen Bozant

Quick Summary

  • It means tuning into what my mind and body need and taking action to support my own well-being.

How long have you worked at UC Davis?

I've worked at UC Davis for three and a half years .

What does Wellness mean to you?

Wellness to me means tuning into what my mind and body need and seeking those things out. Taking actions to know and support my own wellbeing and sharing what I learn with others.

Why did you become a wellness ambassador?

I became a wellness ambassador to help myself and others work on mindfulness and to build a greater sense of community in our department.

How long have you been a wellness ambassador?

This is my first year!

What has been the most rewarding or positive part about your experience thus far?

Meeting weekly with variety of teammates for mini-meditation sessions! The chance to connect on Friday mornings has been lovely, but the actual act of meditating together has been really rewarding.

What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador?

None so far, we have a great wellness committee here in AP and very supportive leadership. It's been a great experience.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?

Don't be afraid to start small. You don't need to have a lot of resources to start making an impact today.

Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?

By offering virtual mini-meditations in a low pressure "Come if you can, skip if you need to" environment, I think I've helped introduce some people to the idea of meditation, who might've otherwise not felt sure enough to give it a try!

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love going on family bike rides around our neighborhood, usually to a park for my daughter to play!
