April Wellness Ambassador of the Month | Lisa Sebright

Quick Summary

  • Wellness is not a destination, it's a faithfulness to small daily habits that allow one to thrive in each of the eight wellness dimensions.

How long have you worked at UC Davis?

I am not a UC Davis employee; I'm a consultant who's been working on the California Tower project, at the Sacramento campus, for 6 years.

What does Wellness mean to you?

Wellness is not a destination, it's a faithfulness to small daily habits that allow one to thrive in each of the eight wellness dimensions.

Why did you become a wellness ambassador?

I started receiving inspiring content that I wanted to pass on to my fellow consultants on the California Tower Team (all 500+ of us!).

How long have you been a wellness ambassador?

Almost three years; I joined the program in March 2022.

What has been the most rewarding or positive part about your experience thus far?

In the spirit of the season (it's December as I write this) I feel a bit like the elf on the shelf, popping into my colleagues' lives to share ideas and inspiration.

What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador?

Time. I wish I had more time to make smoothies, host lunchtime yoga, and teach budgeting classes.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?

Share information that is inspiring to you. There's a lot of information out there but if you feel inspired about a topic, you'll present it in a meaningful way that might break through the noise.

Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?

By supporting the California Tower Team as their wellness ambassador, the building we're constructing can become a place of healing for staff, patients and visitors beginning in 2030.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Ride a bike, take a hike, read a book, walk a dog, make sea-salt caramels.
