Aimee Pfohl stays with EH&S and takes on role as Environmental Compliance Manager.

Aimee Pfohl Is New Environmental Compliance Manager

After 17 years supporting Environmental Health & Safety with increasing responsibility and complexity, Aimee Pfohl is eagerly stepping into the role of Environmental Compliance Manager— previously held by Chris Wright, the new Director of EH&S

Upon graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Environmental and Resource Science Pfohl enjoyed a career in environmental consulting in the Bay Area. When she returned to Davis in 2005, she was hired to lead the Air Quality Program, handling compliance and permitting as well as phase 1 environmental site assessments.

It was great to work alongside the folks handling things like Hazardous Waste, Industrial Hygiene and Site Remediation— everyone was an expert in their field and encouraged me to pursue new opportunities.”

Among those opportunities were joining the Vet School’s team of Departmental Safety Advisors, as well as leading the first ever Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory for both the campus and Medical Center.

Aimee’s next window of opportunity came when her colleague who ran the Stormwater Program, took a different position. Within a year, Aimee obtained a litany of certifications and hired support staff to equip her as the lead of the newly-combined Stormwater and Air Quality Programs.

As Environmental Compliance Manager, Aimee is expanding her scope yet again. By overseeing various compliance groups and helping them navigate the University’s processes and procedures, Aimee gets to continue supporting the UC Davis mission by making sure research gets done safely and responsibly.

I feel incredibly fortunate to continue working with the talented people at EH&S. I’m always learning something new and am eager to continue bridging our knowledge to be the best environmental stewards we can be.”
