Chris Wright is New EH&S Director

Please join Safety Services in congratulating Chris Wright on his promotion to Environmental Health and Safety Director for UC Davis.

Chris replaces Curtis Plotkin who accepted a promotional opportunity at UCLA.

As Director of EH&S, Chris Wright leads a diverse team of highly technical and specialized professional staff focused on providing a safe and environmentally compliant campus operation. Chris' EH&S team provides guidance and expertise to the campus community in: biological, laboratory, chemical, radiation, and industrial safety; industrial hygiene; hazardous waste management; environmental compliance; site remediation; and food and pool safety.

One of Chris' main priorities is "making sure EH&S continues its progress of moving safety forward, expanding our engagement with our campus partners, and helping this amazing team of EH&S professionals achieve success."

Chris is a UC Davis alum, graduating in 1999 with a degree in Environmental Biology and Management. Chris began his career at UC Davis in 2016, where he served initially as the campus Environmental Compliance Manager, before moving into the role of Program Manager of Environmental Compliance, Hazardous Materials Management, and Industrial Hygiene.

Prior to joining UC Davis, Chris spent 16 years in the private consulting industry, developing and leading complex environmental liability management projects for both private and public clients.

Chris lives in West Sacramento, not far from his hometown of Fair Oaks, with his wife of 20 years, Danielle, and his two kids: Ainsley (11) and Samuel (8). The Wright's are a swim family and spend a lot of their free time poolside at swim meets and practice year-round. In their free time, they like to travel, hike, and generally enjoy all the outdoor activities Nor-Cal has to offer. Chris also likes to sail whenever he can.
