Fire Prevention Services provides the UC Davis central campus and remote operations (such as Bodega Bay Marine Laboratory) with state regulated fire prevention services related to code enforcement and life and property protection. Fire Prevention inspectors serve as Designated Campus Fire Marshals (DCFM) for the UC Davis campus on behalf of the California State Fire Marshal.

Existing Buildings Program

  • Annual inspections of existing buildings
  • Oversight maintenance of campus fire protection systems
  • Fire Extinguisher Inspections

Construction/New Building Program

  • Review plans for all construction or remodel/improvement projects under the scope of UC Davis
  • Provide inspections for all construction  or remodel/improvement projects under the scope of UC Davis

Public Education

  • Provide Life Safety presentations to incoming students and families, Greek Housing,  and Resident Advisors
  • Provide Life Safety presentations to Teaching Assistants is high risk departments
  • Provide Exit Strategy recommendations for Residence Halls and Public Events
  • In conjunction with the UC Davis Fire Department, conduct Annual Fire Drills
  • Provide a Lessons Learned for incidents that have occurred
  • Provide hands-on Fire Extinguisher training

Prevention Online Forms

  • UC Davis Fire Prevention Services issues permits required by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. These permit applications are submitted online. You will be contacted for a follow up within 3 business days. For any questions regarding these or other permit applications, please call (530) 752-1493.
