UC Davis to Sunset Davis-Berkeley Shuttle Service
UC Davis Fleet Services has made the difficult decision to discontinue the Davis-Berkeley Shuttle service.
The last day of service will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and ticket sales will end shortly before that date. Any unused tickets or vouchers will not be valid after the service concludes.
The Davis-Berkeley Shuttle has long supported travel between the two campuses and played a role in various operational functions. While ridership dropped significantly during the pandemic and has since partially recovered, the service continues to operate well below capacity and at a financial deficit. It is no longer a sustainable option—financially or environmentally, as buses are not electric.
Fortunately, there are excellent transportation options between Davis and Berkeley, including those listed below, which are similarly priced to the Davis-Berkeley Shuttle and offer frequent departures.
Alternative Transportation Options
Davis-Berkeley Shuttle riders are encouraged to explore the following options:
Amtrak: Regular service from Davis to Emeryville, with a connecting bus to downtown Berkeley. Approximate fare: $27 one-way.
Greyhound: Stops at University Mall in Davis and multiple locations in the Oakland/Berkeley/East Bay Area. Approximate fare: $20 one-way.
Impacts to Campus Operations
Departments that have relied on the shuttle for mail delivery, book transfers, or event tours will need to explore other options. Fleet Services will work with affected partners to support this transition.
Looking Ahead
We know the Davis-Berkeley Shuttle has been a valued resource, and this decision was not made lightly. We extend our sincere thanks to the many riders and university partners who have supported the service over the years—and to our drivers, who operated it with professionalism, safety, and immense care for fellow Aggies.
