Safe Driver Awareness Training Now Available in Spanish
UC Davis’ Safe Driver Awareness Training is now offered in Spanish, expanding access to essential safety education and reinforcing Safety Services’ commitment to inclusivity and campus-wide safety.
The training is mandatory for anyone (employees, students, volunteers) who drives for university business (in university or non-university vehicles) and must be renewed every three years. The training covers key topics such as defensive driving, driver attitude, and seat belt use—ensuring participants stay informed on best practices that protect drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists alike.
“Our campus is vibrant and incredibly active, with bikes and pedestrians everywhere, making it crucial that we do everything possible to prepare our drivers,” said Eric Kvigne, associate vice chancellor for Safety Services. “This Spanish-language training fills a critical need, helping create a safer campus environment for everyone.”
Developed by Fleet Services, the training aligns with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and meets California OSHA (Cal/OSHA) standards under the Injury Illness Prevention Program.
We appreciate the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for identifying this need, benefiting not only Spanish-speaking drivers but the entire UC Davis community.
