Food Protection & Public Health
UC Davis Food Protection Program is designed to reduce the potential for foodborne illness by evaluating and inspecting food facilities on campus for compliance with current state laws.
We inspect:
- Retail food facilities
- Temporary food events
- Mobile food trucks
- Public catered events
We investigate:
- Complaints regarding food safety
- Food sanitation violations
- Suspected cases of foodborne illness
- Illegal food vending

Permanent Food Facilities
UC Davis has 71 permanent food establishments and over 60 mobile food trucks.
Temporary Food Facilities
Establishments operating temporarily where food is prepared or served for consumption by the campus community or general public.
Mobile Food Facilities
Any vehicle used in conjunction with a commissary or other permanent food facility upon which food is sold or distributed at retail.
Compact Mobile Food Operations (CMFOs)
An individual display or cart approved for the sale of prepackaged non-potentially hazardous foods or whole uncooked produce.
