Injury Prevention
We provide the following Injury & Illness Prevention services:
- Create and deliver customized departmental and campuswide injury prevention training,
- Perform hazard assessments to establish safety equipment options,
- Assist departments in purchasing, fabricating new (esp. material handling) or modifying existing or modification of existing equipment,
- Assisting with access & application for Be Smart About Safety injury prevention funds,
- Provide trial & test equipment options for reducing injury risk,
- Assess personal protective equipment needs and provide recommendations,
- Provide departments statistical assessments of past injuries & illnesses,
- Review ongoing injuries & illnesses with Departmental safety management, WC, and OH medical treatment personnel,
- Conduct ergonomic assessments for development of unique solutions,
- Develop safe practices & procedures in compliance with Cal OSHA (i.e. fall protection, electrical safety) and best management practices
- Review and modify departmental IIPP’s

- 17.3 % reduction YTD
- 41 injuries in June 2010
- 73 injuries in June 2009
- 44% reduction
