Welcome Alyssa Hua!

A warm welcome to Alyssa Hua, our new Laboratory Safety Review Team Supervisor.

Alyssa currently supervises and works closely with the Lab Safety Review Team, as well as assisting in planning quarterly meetings, leading outreach programs and scheduling welcome meetings with new DSCs and faculty to provide guidance on campus policy, roles and responsibilities, and available resources. At her previous job, Alyssa worked as an Associate Chemical Hygiene Officer at UC Merced, was responsible for managing a lab safety inspection program and conducting inspections.

Alyssa earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Saint Mary’s College of California in 2013 and obtained her PhD in Chemistry from UC Merced in 2019. Throughout the years, she has obtained a number of certifications which includes: Certified Hygiene Office (National Registry of Certified Chemists) and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (24 hours). 

While seeking professional growth and development, Alyssa came across this opportunity to join the team at UC Davis. Originally, Alyssa became interested in joining UC Davis while researching the EH&S Team which seemed very knowledgeable and well-established. After joining the team, she acknowledges that they are also all very kind, and willing to help and collaborate. Alyssa looks forward to developing a few programs that are impactful to the research community at UC Davis. 

Alyssa is originally from Modesto but has plans to move to the West Sacramento area. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her ‘dog-hter,’ Soy Bean, going to bookclubs with her sisters and cousins, joining her family to enjoy weekend dimsum and hiking with her friends!
