Meet Engineering's New Director of Safety

Safety Services is excited to welcome Steven Patrick Dilbert in his new role as Director of Safety for the College of Engineering.

Steven is a proud alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University, where he received his B.S. in Homeland Security and M.S. in Safety, Security and Emergency Management. Having grown up in Ohio and lived in various locations across North America- including a brief stint in Mexico- he's ready to bring his passion for safety to Davis.

I’ve been fortunate enough to promote safety in all kinds of industries- construction, mining, trucking, marine transportation, and even nuclear energy. But curiosity ultimately drew me to UC Davis. I feel like I’m constantly learning in a campus environment, and I’m honored to support research that's actively making a difference in people’s lives.”

As the Director of Safety, Steven will provide support for CoE Department Safety Coordinators, ensure safety policy compliance and implement Illness and Injury Prevention Programs. Among the projects he’s most excited to work on are developing safety programs for the student F1 Racing Team and EcoCAR EV team.

In his free time, Steven enjoys playing fetch with his two dogs, Dobby and Gizmo, who he adopted as a bonded pair during the pandemic. He also likes to volunteer, drink wine with friends and play board games.
