Foreign & Domestic Travel Resources
Q. A group of scientists and undergraduate students are going to be traveling to Europe and Asia this summer as a result of a grant received for some research. What travel precautions are advised, and how should they prepare for the trip?
A. UC Davis has a policy (PPM 370-05) setting forth the guidelines and protocol for traveling with students. It refers to the RMS website, in which there is a wealth of information. Included are Guidelines, in the form of a Checkoff list, related website links that include such things as health and travel advisories. Please see Business Travel Insurance (BUS-74) for more information.
Q: Does UCD have travel insurance of any type? If so, who does it cover?
A: In 2001 Risk Management Services purchased "AD&D" travel insurance coverage for foreign travel. This policy is basically designed to provide coverage for accidents that occur during travel abroad (UC academic or business-related activity). It covers students, staff, faculty and their respective "others" who travel with them. See Business Travel Insurance (BUS-74) for further details.
