Q: My department is acquiring some artwork that will be displayed in our hallways. We'd like to know if there is insurance for it and if so, what's the cost?
A: Yes, there is automatic coverage for artwork that is in the care, custody and control of the University. You need to make sure there is a Fine Arts Agreement in place, though. Please see the Fine Arts Insurance Program (BUS-1). Without it, you are jeopardizing coverage under UC's program. The automatic coverage under BUS-28 is without charge. However, it does not provide the comprehensive type of coverage fine art might require. There is a commercial coverage that can be obtained, called "BUS-1."
