Drivers Safety Training

Q: Is it a requirement that anyone driving on UC business have driver's training?

A: It is highly recommended, but is not currently mandatory. Because of the sheer number of miles driven cumulatively by UCD drivers, it represents one of the highest exposures to the campus. Remember, even student employees or those driving on behalf of the University can receive Driver Safety Training through Fleet Services. Another training opportunity is through Staff Development and Professional Services "Risk Awareness Certificate Program."

Q: What is the "Pull Notice" system and who qualifies?

A: The California Vehicle and the Public Utility Codes require the University to participate in the DMV's "Pull Notice System." This system provides employers with information about employee convictions relating to vehicle safety violations and any action the DMV takes against the driver's license and certificates. There are certain classes of jobs that are subject to this requirement. The policy & procedure (380-20)  and much more can be reviewed at www.fleet.ucdavis.edu/business/pull_notice.php.
