Auto Physical Damage (BUS-69)

COVERAGE:

Auto Physical Damage (APD) coverage provides comprehensive and collision coverage for University owned or leased vehicles. Coverage has been extended to include all University vehicles.

PREMIUMS:

Premiums are based upon campus loss experience and vehicle classification. 

CURRENT APD RATES:

    • $509 - Class 1 Vehicles: Passenger Cars/Light Trucks
    • $763 - Class 2 Vehicles: Heavy Duty Trucks, Vans & Buses
    • $407 - Electric Vehicles: GEMS
    • $305 - Motorcycles

DEDUCTIBLE:

$500.00 per occurrence for all accidents under $25,000. Losses in excess of $25,000 are charged a deductible of 20% of the total loss up to $50,000. Department with custody of vehicle at the time will be responsible for deductible, unless a third party is identified as responsible from whom either the deductible or full damage expense can be obtained.

SECURING COVERAGE:

All vehicles must be registered and licensed through Fleet Services. Fleet Services reports the total campus fleet inventory annually.

CLAIMS:

Report all incidents & accidents to appropriate authority (e.g. police, fire, etc.).  Contact Fleet Services at 752-0789 (for Fleet Vehicles) or Risk Management Services at 752-3003 (for Department Owned vehicles) as soon as possible, within 24 hours of the accident. Complete Auto Accident Form and submit to Fleet Services for Fleet-owned vehicles or Risk Management Services for departmentally-owned vehicles.

All incidents & accidents should be reported to Risk Management Services as well as your immediate supervisor.

LOSS CONTROL:

Driver training may help lower the campus vehicle insurance premium by improving the campus loss experience. Contact Staff Development at 752-1766 for more information on the Safe Driver Awareness classes.
