UC Ready-A Continuity Planning Tool

UC Ready LogoAccess the online tool

UC Ready is a continuity planning program that is being implemented throughout the University of California system.

Plans Completed = 53

Plans In Progress =  40

This web-based program, created by UC Berkeley, was designed to prepare for rapid resumption of the University's mission following any unexpected disruption (i.e. earthquake). The core activities of teaching, research, and public service are performed at the department level, therefore preparations to continue these activities after a disaster should begin at that level. UC Ready can help you prepare for continuity issues of excessive absenteeism associated with the Pandemic H1N1 (2009) Influenza. UC Ready actually builds on the pandemic planning previously conducted by UC Davis.

UC Ready Plans Identify:

    • CRITICAL FUNCTIONS performed by your department, and the factors needed for their continuance.
    • INFORMATION AND STRATEGIES that will help during and after the disaster-event.
    • ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL needed for continuance of critical operations
    • PLANNING STRATEGIES to ensure that we are better prepared.
    • ACTION ITEMS that can be done now snow to lessen the impact of these events.

COMING SOON!

UC Ready II is a supplement designed specifically for academic and research units – it is shorter, less complicated and doesn’t address administrative or IT-based issues.  It will be released in May 2012.

Start your Department's Plan

There are three easy ways you can get started:

Option 1

    • Schedule a time for a one-on-one training.  The training may take about 1-2 hours, and of course  will vary based on the size of your department and your familiarity of web-based programs.

Option 2

    • Your Department IT Professional can take the short (11 minutes) online UC Ready training offered through http://lms.ucdavis.edu.  You can locate the class in lms by either searching for UC Ready in the serch box, or look under Environmental Health & Safety Management-Emergency & Continity Planning.

Option 3

You may also find the new Reference Manual helpful when working on your plan.
