Be Smart About Safety (BSAS)
THE NEW PROGRAM FOR 2008-2009!
The UC Davis Be Smart About Safety Program is an “injury prevention” funding program.
- 100% funding available for approved non-office type equipment (i.e hand trucks, hoists, etc.).
- A 50% matching program (up to $500/employee) available for work station equipment to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents (keyboards, mouse, document holders, etc.).

Funds cannot be used for the following:

Capitol improvement projects or post-start up building expenses

Enhancement to academic or vocational instruction

Correction of deferred maintenance deficiencies

Replacement of stock items for on-going programs (i.e. ear plugs, safety glasses, or other routine PPE) that are required by law.

Hiring of career staff or provide salaries for existing positions

The paying of staff wages or travel expense for training

Installation, set-up, or building modifications for equipment purchases
