PREMEDICATION          
Atropine 0.04-0.07 mg/kg SC, IM 36
Glycopyrolate 0.01-0.02 mg/kg SC
Acepromazine 0.2 mg/kg SC, IM, IV 36 as an adjunct to anesthesia
Diazepam 0.55-1.1 mg/kg IM as an adjunct to anesthesia
Midazolam 0.1-0.5 mg/kg IM
           
ANESTHETICS          
Ketamine 10 mg/kg IV best given with a sedative
20-25 mg/kg IM
Telazol 4-8 mg/kg IM
Telazol/Xylazine 4.4/2.2 mg/kg IM reconstitute telazole with 2.5 ml xylazine (100 mg/ml) + 2.5 ml sterlie saline; administer at 2.2 mg/kg IM based on 50 mg/ml
Propofol 5 mg/kg IV
Propofol/Fentanyl 0.5 mg / 1.6 mcg /kg/min IV (CRI)
Isoflurane, Halothane to effect inhalation
           
OPIOIDS          
Morphine 0.2 mg/kg IM q. 4-6 hrs 1a, 8, 16 up to 20 mg total dose
Methadone 0.3 mg/kg IM 24 analgesia lasted 5 hrs, slight hyperactivity and dyspnea reported
Pentazocine 2.0 mg/kg IM q. 4 hrs 1a
0.4-5.0 mg/kg IM 28
Buprenorphine 0.005-0.01 mg/kg  IM q. 12 hrs 1a
0.03-0.12 mg/kg IM 24 analgesia lasted from 5-7 hrs, slow onset of 30-60 min.
Butorphanol 0.1-0.3 mg/kg IM 28
           
NON-OPIOIDS          
Xylazine 2-4 mg/kg IM
Medetomidine 0.2 mg/kg IM
Aspirin 10 mg/kg PO q. 4 hrs 1a
Flunixin 1.1 mg/kg IM q. 24 hrs
Phenylbutazone 4-8 mg/kg PO q. 24 hrs
           
LOCAL ANESTHETICS          
Bupivacaine up to 2 mg/kg 25 intercostal for thoracotomy pain
           
ANESTHETIC ANTAGONIST          
Naloxone 0.015-0.04 mg/kg SC, IP, IV reverses opioids
Nalbuphine 1-2 mg/kg IV, IM partial reversal of opioids
Yohimbine 0.1-0.15 mg/kg IV reverses xylazine
Atipamezole 0.5 mg/kg IM reverses medetomidine
