New Online Wellness Portal
-
The Mind Body Wellness Group is excited to announce the launching of a
new on-line Wellness Portal, funded through Be Smart About Safety and
Health Education and Promotion, Student Health Services. The portal is
designed to assist students, staff, faculty, retirees and community
residents in locating resources related to the various aspects of
wellness. For example, users can quickly and easily learn about wellness
resources such as local farmer’s markets, classes at the Experimental
College or tips for handling tension and anger. To make this a "one stop
shopping" experience, campus, community and web resources are included.

Team members include Occupational Biomechanics (OBL: Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering in the College of Engineering), Physical Therapy and Injury Prevention (Occupational Health Services). With funding from UCOP’s Be Smart About Safety initiative, the project harvests the talents of staff and students alike to create a safer workplace while providing hands-on experience for students.

After a thorough testing in February, UC Davis Alert, the new Campus emergency notification system, is set to proceed to full implementation. The new campus notification system was tested on February 27-28 and performed better than expected. Overall, the messages sent to four groups (16,000 total) through data and voice devices were almost all received within 15 minutes. This was a good thing – as the system was used during the following week to alert the campus to a serious situation.
