The safety of our campus community is of the highest priority. The Safety Services division provides training, tools and funding to help faculty, staff and students create and maintain a safe learning and working environment. But everyone has a critical role in ensuring our individual and collective safety.
Taking Responsibility for Your Own Safety
Most accidents are completely preventable. And the best prevention comes from YOU! Your responsibilities include:
- Following standard operating procedures
- Using required personal protective equipment
- Reporting unsafe or hazardous situations
- Participating in all required training
- Thinking before you perform a task
- Getting assistance, or using mechanical assistive devices, when lifting, pushing and pulling
- Paying attention to possible hazards
- Allowing enough time to do the job
- Never tolerating unsafe acts or risky behavior
