UC Davis to Host the Elizabeth R. Griffin Research Foundation

On July 18, UC Davis will host Executive Director Jim Welch from the Elizabeth R. Griffin Research Foundation, which studies and promotes biosafety and biomedical research.

Welch brings a unique perspective on safety in his presentation “Safety, Why it Matters (Elizabeth’s Story).” He will share about Elizabeth Griffin, an artistic and vibrant young woman, who died in 1997 as a result of an exposure to B virus.

“We don’t always think about the safety aspect of what we do, but even things that seem inconsequential can have lasting or very serious effects on our health or well-being,” said UC Davis Biosafety Officer Philip Barruel. “Elizabeth Griffin’s story is a compelling example of why safety matters.”
